The Huw Grantham Studio
Huw Grantham 1976 - 2020
Born and raised in Stratford Upon Avon, Huw Grantham trained as an animator. After completing his degree, he turned to painting. He spent the last fifteen years painting portraits, exploring different media, and then turned to painting landscapes inspired by local surroundings, flora and fauna.
Huw’s work in oils and mixed media is driven by the physical process of creating a painting. by layering and adding different textures, a greater sense of space is created.
After being diagnosed with a brain tumour in 2014, Huw sadly passed away suddenly in September 2020, leaving a wife and two children. The studio at The Courtyard Gallery has now been named in his memory.
Huw found sanctuary in the studio while living with a brain tumour.
The Huw Grantham Studio at The Courtyard Gallery was a tribute to a talented artist. We hope to be able to accommodate Huw’s memory when we move to new premises providing studio space for up-and-coming artists to develop their work.
